Little gem I found on the way to Santa Cruz

Last Thursday, my wife and I drove down to Santa Cruz in Monterey Bay. On the way, we took a detour on to highway 9 and then to highway 236. After a twisting 17 mile drive we found this absolute gem! It was a 80,000 acre of old-growth coastal redwoods forest. Big Basin Redwoods State Park is not well known among travelers which makes it a pretty unique experience. I personally found it much better than going to Muir Woods in Marin Headlands because the forest itself was uncrowded and the trees were big and old. This is definitely not the fastest route to Santa Cruz, but the most scenic one! Check out the photos here.
