Try talking to a random Asian and they just give you a weird look and answer with a simple yes/no. If they can speak English that is. It's a global disease. I read somewhere it's a symptom of our "impersonal tribe" culture - that our tribes became so large that we could no longer know everyone, so we stopped trying, and became "comfortable" with strangers. The web is an interesting one in this. It facilitates people breaking down these barriers and connecting people in the global village. But, it also puts a barrier between us - we hide behind screens like we hide our gaze. It's something that needs to be actively fought. "World without strangers" and all that.
